Language

Language is the system of communication.

Expressive language refers to a child's ability to express their thoughts clearly. Children with expressive language difficulties may have troubling conveying or expressing his/her thoughts in spoken language and/or writing.

A child with receptive language difficulties has a hard time understanding what is said to them. This can include trouble with auditory processing, following directions, remembering information, or paying attention.

Trouble with expressing ones thoughts may lead to increased frustration. Both expressive and receptive language difficulties require a thorough assessment and treatment plan to best support the child's needs.
